Job description

As a Fitter and Turner within the Manufacturing Workshop, you are responsible for manufacturing or modifying all kinds of products, such as vehicle parts or parts of a test stand. The execution of the assignments may include the following activities:
  • Manufacturing products at one's own discretion on the basis of drawings or sketches and oral instructions, in such a way that they meet the quality and constructive requirements set;
  • Determining and organizing the material, choosing the processing order and creating auxiliary tools necessary to optimally carry out the assignments;
  • Identifying manufacturability problems or material deviations, determining the causes and proposing solutions in consultation with the client;
  • Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on the machines, (measuring) tools, aids and installations present in the work area.

You work closely with colleagues from the other departments within the RC and with the Test Technicians and Construction Groups within Product Development. On occasion you may be asked to provide support to the other workshops within the Research Center.

Job requirements

For this challenging position we are looking for an all-round professional, preferably with a Trade Certificate as a Fitter & Turner, Turner Machinist or Boilermaker. Experience with reading technical drawings, (conventional) turning and milling, the various welding techniques and general bench work techniques (drilling, cutting, sawing, bending, etc.) is required. Knowledge of CAD/CAM or 3D printing is a plus, as is working with plastics and woodworking. You are flexible and have a high degree of care and accuracy when performing your work. You speak Afrikaans fluently and you are open to learn the Dutch language.

Salary

€3.500 - €4.000 gross income per month

Within the Product Development department, the Research Center is responsible for building prototype vehicles and conducting tests on vehicles and components. The Manufacturing Workshop is responsible for making or modifying the products required for this.
